Marian Stoica: A Long Way to the Top to Find the Edge with SpiceProp

Romanian trader Marian Adrian Stoica has successfully completed one of SpiceProp’s most popular evaluations — the Sweet Pepper 10K Challenge. His journey wasn’t easy, but his discipline and consistency paid off. Now a funded SpiceTrader, Marian shares his story and key insights with the SpiceProp Blog.

Why do you like trading with SpiceProp?

It feels like a POV when you're hungry and open a fridge full of delicious food — and then the feast begins. That’s what passing a SpiceProp challenge feels like. You get to choose your strategy, your setup — it’s all there for you.

What do you think is the most important factor for passing the SpiceProp challenge?

Discipline. Absolutely discipline. SpiceProp offers fantastic learning tools and opportunities to develop your trading skills, but if you can’t organize yourself and manage your account properly, none of that will help. Discipline is the core.

What was the key turning point in your trading career?

This moment — joining SpiceProp. You might not believe it, but everything before this felt like nonsense. No clear goals, no direction. Working with SpiceProp changed everything. It's a completely different experience.

How long have you been trading?

Three years. You could say it took me that long to reach this point. But every part of that journey was necessary.

What’s your trading plan now?

Step-by-step growth. You need consistency — in trading and in life. You can’t build a house starting from the roof. You need a foundation, a structure, a process. That’s what a plan gives you. And most importantly, you have to stick to it.

What three personal qualities helped you succeed in the challenge?

Education, discipline, and consistency.

What do you think separates average traders from the best?

Emotional control. If your emotions control you, you're already off track. Emotional people might succeed in many areas, but not in trading. Here, you need logic, analysis, cold calculation. Leave the emotions at the door.

What’s the best piece of advice that helped you during the challenge?

Don’t give up. As simple as that. Be stoic. Even when everything feels like it's falling apart, you stay calm and do your job. Of course, there are moments of fear, greed, doubt — every trader knows that. But the key is to push through.

Can you share any books, online resources, or mentors that were important in your trading development?

There are many. Ever since I got into trading, I’ve read and watched a lot. But if you don’t mind, I won’t play the role of advisor here.

Should we learn more from ourselves or from others?

Both. You can learn something valuable even from people you least expect. But at the same time, you have to understand what actually works for you.
