Most of the time, I trade only in the direction of the main trend ("the trend is your friend"), but not always—it depends on the macroeconomic reports planned for the day or my gut feeling. Also, I mostly risk a maximum of 2% of my money, but usually 1%. What quality of your character helps you succeed in the SpiceProp challenge (in three words)? Discipline, Patience, Consistency. What separates the average traders from the best? From my point of view, it is how you manage capital, your mind, and data. Somebody told me that the most important thing for a trader is to protect the account's maximum drawdown, not to hit the profit target. Well, the most important tools for me are Forexfactory.com and TradingView. Also, Tom Hougaard slowly became my mentor :) I really liked him and his community (tradertom). There are also a few books by Mark Douglas which are very helpful. Should we learn from ourselves or from others? Both. What does your ‘ideal setup’ look like? Describe the three key conditions that must be met for you to open a position. I think it is about waiting for the market to align perfectly so the odds are heavily skewed in my favor.
